4 Fall Fitness Tips for Cooler Weather

It’s fall! Or so the leaves and temperature drops are telling us. It’s time to think not only about bumping up the heater, raking the yard, and Pumpkin Spice everything, but your routine for staying active as the seasons change. FitOasis is here to get you started!

#1 - Bask in the Beauty of Nature’s Changing Scenery

Take your routine outside and enjoy new colors and invigorating, brisk air for a run, hike, or bike ride. Make the most of it! Every workout doesn’t have to leave you gasping. Take your dog for a walk and your body will thank you for not going into hibernation mode.

#2 - Change Up Your Meal Plan

With cooler temperatures, comes the primal need to WARM UP! Fall is the perfect time to take a new look at your nutrition plan. Warming foods that can be easily prepared ahead of time in your crock pot, can also have excellent health benefits. Get creative with spices like cumin, ginger and turmeric in your soup for improved digestion and to soothe cold symptoms. A warm bowl of oatmeal is one of the most comforting breakfast foods out there. It is also super healthy and easy to digest; full of prebiotic fibers that will encourage the growth of healthy gut bacteria. Try a new tea to keep you warm after being outside! #3 - Layer, Layer, Layer!

Need a few new pieces for fall? Don’t forget about your fall fitness wardrobe too. Besides, who isn’t motivated by a great new fleece or jogging leggings?! Choose clothing that first, wicks the moisture away from your body, and then layer with something on top to lock in your body heat as you get your heart pumping. Remember, on extra brisk days, you can train from the comfort of your own home—FitOasis coaches give you exercises that you can do anywhere—no excuses!

#4 - New Season, New Program

Why not get excited about some brand new goals? Don’t get bored with your training routine, especially as cooler weather makes it more likely you’ll choose to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket instead of lacing up those sneaks (tell me I’m wrong!). With FitOasis, you can workout at home or at your gym with a live, virtual trainer. Our training app can really help to give you the training structure to get you working out through the colder months. You’ll have no excuse to slow down!
